It has been well over a month since I went in for my canine exposure surgery. Just to refresh your memory I underwent a procedure that would remove my baby canines then expose and manually pull down the adult teeth still up in my gum. What you are looking at currently is one fully exposed canine and one that is still tucked away under the gum but has a bracket on it and is being pulled down as well. As freaky as it is to look at I don’t feel too much pain except for when they manually pull down on the tooth that is still under the gum. The chains now have tension on them & are attached to my dental springs.
Both my surgeon at orthodontist are highly optimistic that they will be able to pull them down to where they need to be but this will take time, they are estimating an eight month movement plan. This is good news considering that odds that I was up against because of my age.
I healed perfectly from the back wisdom tooth that they had removed as well. There was no complications from that part of the procedure.
Every six weeks I go in to get my braces adjusted and for them to do another pulldown on my canine teeth. My next appointment is early October, at that point we will know for sure what kind of movement we are getting out of the teeth. I remain optimistic and as insane as this is I’m excited to power through this!
